Traffic Management in Comber Town Centre
The problems associated with acute traffic congestion have long been recognised as significant issues detracting from the environment of Comber and seriously prejudicing its role as a local shopping centre. For several years CRCP has focused its concern about the impact of this, particularly in Castle Street and Mill Street, in meetings and correspondence with officials and elected representatives.
More recently we have been in correspondence with DRD Minister Danny Kennedy. Supported by a petition signed by over 600 people we believe that we have made a strong case to persuade Government to carry out a review of these traffic management issues and to look again at ways of reducing the increasing conflict between motor vehicles and pedestrians in Comber’s narrow streets. Possible solutions, previously examined, included options for a limited one way system. For Comber One Way System Report 2009 see pdf.
