Marie Curie Recruiting Volunteers for Helper Service in Ards Area

Published by Comberreg on

Marie Curie is recruiting volunteers for our Helper service as part of the care that Marie Curie offers to individuals approaching the end of their lives, as well as supporting their families. A Marie Curie Helper is a specifically trained volunteer who can support people at this very difficult time by providing

  • Companionship
  • Time out for families and carers to take a short break from their caring role.
  • Practical support, such as accompanying an individual to an appointment

Our volunteers can also offer support to them for up to three months after bereavement.

We are currently recruiting in the Belfast, Bangor, and Ards peninsula areas and are looking for individuals who are very flexible with regard to their availability i.e. willing to provide cover for existing volunteers who are temporarily unavailable as and when necessary OR willing to undertake assessments OR, when necessary, commit to a maximum of three hours a week.

Information Sessions for potential volunteers will take place on Monday 14th March 2-4pm OR Friday 18th March 10am-12md in the Marie Curie Centre, Kensington Road, Belfast. If you would like to find out some more please contact our Volunteer Centre on 0845 305 2191 or email volunteering@mariecurie.org.uk. You can also contact the Marie Curie Helper service Manager, Janis McCulla, on 028 9088 2078 for further information.
